About us
School Culture
Cultural Diversity
We are one of the most diverse schools in NZ and this is a major factor in what makes East girls so well rounded and open-minded. As stated in the 2008 ERO report, students 'appreciate the many options available to them, demonstrate pride in their college and value the multicultural environment where diversity is celebrated'.
| European/Pakeha 48% | Pacific 10% |
| Asian 18% | Middle Eastern 2% |
| Maori 13% | Other Ethnic Groups 5% |
Traditions
Our school values long-held traditions, but also has encorporated new ones which are becoming part of its culture.
School Pride
Our school is known for its strong and visible school pride. Nobody expresses what it is to have the famous 'East Pride' better than Kristen Ng, Head Prefect of 2008. Listen to the audio clip that she wrote, edited and scored to get a taste of the kind of spirit and loyalty girls at WEGC have.
