Parents' Association
The Parents' Association is an important link between parents, teachers, and our girls while they are at Wellington East. By becoming involved with the Association, parents can find out about what goes on inside the school gates, as well as the ways in which the girls are representing the school throughout New Zealand and overseas.
You will be amazed at all the activities that your daughters may be involved in and you know little or nothing about! There is also the chance to learn about academic developments such as changes to the curriculum, exam regimes and so on, and have an influence on aspects of school life that we feel strongly about.
In 2010 a the Parents' Association was a major contributor to the fundraising for a school marquee, which was first used in December and will be very useful in coming years.
Meetings usually include:
- A short presentation on something topical - this can be by students, a member of staff, or an outside speaker
- Decisions on the allocation of PTA funds to deserving projects within the school
- An update on current school activities from our teacher representative
- Discussion of issues that are important to us as parents
We recommend the Parents' Association as an easy and enjoyable way to keep in touch with school life. We don't do any fund-raising - a big relief after all those years of kindy and primary school efforts!
