It was a musical assembly on Tuesday, as the school saw the debut of the all-staff orchestra and also farewelled the director of the Small Choir, old-girl Alex Hay. 

Alex has been working with the girls for three and a half years, during which time they have had prestigious performances at Government House and at Ministry ocasions, and have won awards at Choral Festival.  Alex, whose first love is composing, is taking up a shared lectureship at Victoria University and also working on a commissioned item for Creative New Zealand.
