Celebrating Ramadan

Event Name Celebrating Ramadan
Start Date 18th Aug 2009
End Date
Duration N/A
Description

ramadan1Ramadan this year will start around August 21st and in the past week we have had students explaining what that means for Muslim students in our community.

Two girls presented a Powerpoint in assembly outlining what fasting involves and how it affects them at school, especially towards the end of the day and in PE.  They also told us what values they were focussing on during Ramadan month, like being charitable and giving up bad habits.

The whole school has been learning a song about Ramadan, and we sang it together after the students' presentation.

Below:  To keep the focus on celebrating our different cultures, at the same assembly, some girls from the Indian group performed.
