Last Wednesday the 8th of June, all four choirs from WEGC competed at the Big Sing Festival in Wellington. More than 300 choirs across the country take part in this event and only 18 are chosen to go on to the final. This year was particularly special due to the growth of the Junior Choir from 25 voices to 262 - this was by way of including all the Year 9 students.

Three of the four choirs were conducted by students with Multi Choir conducted by Gwen Foliga and Sophia Uele, Senior Choir conducted by Frances Dreaver-Stimpson and Rebecca Howan, and the Junior Choir conducted by Susanna Middleton-Olliver and Niamh Hammond.

Cantala, our only auditioned choir conducted by Mr Stewart, won "Best Performance" certificates for 2 out their 3 songs. On top of this Sophia Uele was awarded Best Student Director for her performance of "Imagine Me".

Seeing so many girls from our school brimming full of East spirit and pride made for a special day of music making and the choirs have made the school and wider community extremely proud.
