This week students will begin accessing their student email accounts, which begin with their names and end with '@wegc.school.nz'. They should get instructions on accessing these gmail accounts from form teachers or in Computing classes.

The email accounts have been set up to better enable student/teacher communication and to give students a formal email address they can use in school related situations, such as emailing people as part of research.

Instructions on activating accounts

Student e-mail addresses (and thus usernames) are in the form:
preferrednamesurname.student@wegc.school.nz  with hyphens, apostrophes and spaces removed from all names.

Some examples:
Nancy Drew would have the address: nancydrew.student@wegc.school.nz
Nancy Drew-Hardy would have the address: nancydrewhardy.student@wegc.school.nz
Nancy O'Drew would have the address: nancyodrew.student@wegc.school.nz

Students can log on to their e-mail account by going to http://mail.wegc.school.nz/ (this is the homepage when students open up a web browser at school) and entering their e-mail username and password.

The e-mail username for students is the part of their e-mail address before the @ symbol (e.g. nancydrew.student).
The password for students is initially the same as their network password. Students can change their password.
