| Description | Three of our Year 9 students have had stories selected for the finals in Auckland on 22nd August of thePuffin Short Story Awards. Bryony Campbell, Katherine Werry and Eva Wyles are three of the ten finalists in the senior category of the competition, which attracted over 500 entries from all over the country. The Puffin Short Story Competition, run by Storylines to celebrate 70 years of Puffin Books, required students to write a short story on the theme of 'My Puffin'. Several students from our Creative Writing elective entered the competition with ideas ranging from metaphorical puffins, characters finding boxes of old Puffin books and real puffins struggling for survival. The stories were written during the Creative Writing elective, which is run by Ms Koirala, herself a published writer. She is impressed that of the dozen or so entries the class produced, so many were selected as finalist entries. |
