Soccer team through to Regional Finals

Event Name Soccer team through to Regional Finals
Start Date 12th Aug 2010
End Date
Duration N/A
Description

After the game against Tawa ended in a nil-all draw, the First XI dug deep to win an epic shoot-out, 7-6.

The starting goalie for WEGC was injured during the game, and Amanda Rasch from Year 12 had to step in to defend our goal during the shoot-out, an unfamiliar position for her.  She managed to save four shots, which ended up being the difference.  Each team took 10 kicks, meaning that even the defenders had to step up and have a shot at goal.

The Wellington Premiere final will be next week, August 18th, 5.30pm under lights at Te Whaea Park (Hutchinson Rd, Newtown - behind the old Winter Show Buildings) against Wellington Girls' College.

Olivia Jacobs of Year 10 is in the running to win the 'golden boot' prize for the grade, giving her extra incentive to play well in the final.
