Relocation Update
12 August

We have been working through a range of solutions to manage the relocation from the Main Building. These decisions have been made in the light of the MoE decision to rectify the building over the Christmas break and to begin work soon on the hall, with a view to completion early term 4. This has meant that we have been seeking solutions to manage the relocation of the school for a comparatively short period of time.

Reception and Administration
Portacoms will be bought onto the site and located on the front courts. These will be used to house the student services office, the main office functions and the principal/deputy principals. This means that student and reception services will continue to be located at the front of the school.

Student Services and Year 13 Common Room
A property, almost opposite the bottom drive on Patterson St will be leased and used for a range of students services including the guidance counselor, nurse, careers and the international office. Heather Aked, assistant principal, will be based in this area. The year 13 Common Room will be relocated to the ground floor of this building.

Student Examinations
The senior examinations will be held during week 3. Most of these exams will be held at Wellington College with some examinations held at WEGC. At this stage we expect to hold NCEA examinations in the school hall in term 4.

Teaching Spaces
All teaching will take place during week 3 on site at Wellington East. We may continue to hold some classes and performing arts assessments at Wellington College after senior examinations.

Time Frame
We anticipate that these arrangements will be in place by the end of week 4. Year 13 students will continue to use the common room during exams and move into the Patterson St property at the beginning of week 4.

We appreciate that there will have been some inconvenience over this period and expect that these arrangements will provide a workable solution.

Many thanks for your support.

Sally Haughton
